Former Vikings Player Criticizes Governor Tim Walz in Wake of Minnesota Killings

Headline: Ex-Vikings Safety Jack Brewer Criticizes Governor Walz Following Gun Violence Against Lawmakers

In a strong rebuke of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, former Vikings safety Jack Brewer expressed outrage over the recent shooting incidents involving state lawmakers. Brewer, now a Republican after previously identifying as a Democrat, lamented the perceived decline of Minnesota under Walz’s leadership.

The outburst came in response to the tragic deaths of State Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband in Brooklyn Park, quickly followed by a separate shooting that left State Senator John Hoffman and his wife injured but alive. Walz described these attacks as "politically motivated assassinations," emphasizing the alarming climate of violence against public officials.

"I am heartbroken to see one of the most amazing states in America completely turned around under Governor Tim Walz," Brewer stated, pointing to a "capital of chaos" image now associated with Minnesota. He criticized the prevailing safety conditions, reflecting a broader concern among citizens about law and order in the state.

The shooter, identified by authorities as Vance Boelter, allegedly impersonated a police officer to approach the victims’ homes. Boelter, a former appointee in Walz’s administration, had previously served on the Governor’s Workforce Development Board. This connection raised eyebrows as Brewer accused the administration of failing to safeguard its citizens.

Brewer, who played for the Vikings in the early 2000s, addressed the shift in the state’s landscape, stating, "There are many good people in Minnesota, but the liberal regime around Minneapolis and St. Paul has taken over, and it’s dangerous." His remarks ignite a critical conversation around governance and public safety, as Minnesota grapples with escalating violence and political discord.
