Duluth Denfeld Student Makes History as Best Actress Nominee for Jimmy Awards
DULUTH, Minn. – In a remarkable achievement for the Duluth community, Reagan Kern, a student at Duluth Denfeld High School, has been named Minnesota’s Best Actress as announced by Hennepin Arts for the 2024-25 Spotlight Education Jimmy Awards. This recognition not only highlights her exceptional talent but also marks the first time a Duluthian has received this honor.
Kern, who is graduating this year, has earned the prestigious Triple Threat Award for her stunning portrayal of Elle Woods in the school’s production of Legally Blonde. Her selection as the best actress nominee enables her to represent Minnesota at the National High School Musical Theatre Awards, commonly referred to as the Jimmy Awards.
The event, aimed at celebrating student achievements and the importance of theater in education, will see Kern and other nominees participate in an intensive theatre program in New York City from June 13-24, culminating in the 16th annual Jimmy Awards gala at the Minskoff Theatre on June 23. This initiative spotlights the artistry of high school performances and emphasizes the value of arts education in school curriculums.
