Wheeling Ice Cream Fundraiser Returns with a Twist
WHEELING — The United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley is gearing up for summer with the return of its beloved Celebrity Scoopers fundraiser, now hitting the road to bring community engagement and delicious ice cream to various locations throughout the Ohio Valley.
This year, local celebrities will scoop ice cream at multiple venues to benefit families in need and support community programs. The event kicks off on June 3 at Flurry’s Ice Cream and Sweets in Moundsville and will continue on June 5 at Fun in the Ville with Kirke’s Homemade Ice Cream in Barnesville. Additional dates include a summer kickoff on June 13 at Stalder’s Family Creamery in New Martinsville, scooping in St. Clairsville from June 18-20, and concluding with a session on June 27 in front of Waterfront Hall in Wheeling.
Staci Stephen, executive director of United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley, emphasized the importance of community involvement, stating, “Each scoop served helps build stronger communities across the Upper Ohio Valley.” She expressed excitement about collaborating with local businesses and leaders dedicated to supporting the area.
This year’s event is made possible by sponsors including Visit Wheeling and Edward Jones, along with several local businesses. The United Way also acknowledges its Premier and Annual Sponsors, which include WVU Medicine Wheeling Hospital, Comcast, and Belmont Savings Bank, among others.
