MN Wildfires: Brimson Complex Fire Still Uncontained; Munger Shaw Fire 50% Contained

Press Release

Authorities Update on Northern Minnesota Wildfires

BRIMSON, Minn. (FOX 9) – The Camp House and Jenkins Creek wildfires, part of the Brimson Complex, remain uncontained but have not expanded. Limited access will be granted to property owners within the zone this Sunday, following a two-hour window allowed Saturday. Meanwhile, the Munger Shaw fire has reached 50% containment, leading to lifted evacuation orders.

As of Saturday morning, here are the latest statistics on burned land: Camp House fire – 14,805 acres; Jenkins Creek fire – 16,281 acres; Munger Shaw fire – 16,000 acres, with nothing new reported in its acreage.

The causes of the fires are under investigation. The Camp House fire is believed to have stemmed from an unattended campfire. The Jenkins Creek fire might have originated from a discarded cigarette, while the Munger Shaw fire was likely ignited by a hay bale.

Fire crews are currently focusing on protecting key infrastructures, with bulldozer lines being used to enhance containment. Recent rain has aided firefighting efforts, although warmer and drier conditions are anticipated next week. Further updates will follow as the situation develops.
