Recap of Minnesota Gophers’ Spring Sports Weekend

The winter sports season is almost complete for the Minnesota Golden Gophers, with only the NCAA Gymnastics meet remaining. As the spring sports take over, there isn’t much to get excited about for the Gophers and their fans. The baseball team, under first-year head coach Ty McDevitt, has struggled with a record of 11-17 overall and 2-10 in the Big Ten. The softball team has faced challenges as well, with a 14-23 record and a 3-10 Big Ten record. Women’s track has seen some success, with standout performances from Ali Weimer and the 4x400m relay team. The men’s tennis team has had a tough season in conference play with a 1-8 record. Women’s golf closed out their regular season with a 5th place finish at the Boilermaker Invitational, while the men’s golf team struggled at the Bell Bank Collegiate. The rowing team kicked off their spring season with a strong showing at the Rocky Top Invitational, finishing second in all four boats they competed in. With challenges and successes across the spring sports teams, the Gophers are looking to finish the season strong as they head into the final stretch of their schedules.
