Protesters in Minnesota are set to join the nationwide “Hands Off” movement this Saturday, aiming to send a message to President Trump and Elon Musk. The group accuses them of trying to strip America for parts and orchestrate a power grab. Protests will take place in various locations across the state, including the State Capitol in St. Paul, Ely, and Rochester, starting at noon.
The White House and Musk have not made any public statements regarding the protests. President Trump is scheduled to be in Florida for the weekend, while Musk has been heavily involved in the Department of Government Efficiency, despite not being officially in charge. Musk recently suffered a political setback when a Democratic-backed candidate won the Wisconsin Supreme Court election, where Musk had donated $20 million to the conservative candidate’s campaign.
Economists are concerned about the effects of the reciprocal tariffs announced by Trump on imports from 90 nations, with predictions of inflation reigniting and trade partners retaliating with higher tariffs on American imports. The announcement led to the biggest one-day drop in U.S. indexes since 2020, with the tumble continuing on Friday.
