Road construction season is in full swing in the Twin Cities, with several major projects starting on Monday that will last throughout the year. In Minneapolis, phase two of the Hennepin Avenue project is causing road closures from 26th Street to Douglas Avenue. Another project in Minneapolis on Interstate 94 between Huron Boulevard and 35W will involve improvements to five bridges. Drivers can check 511 for detour information.
Outside of Minneapolis, Coon Rapids is getting a third lane added to Highway 10 in both directions to improve traffic flow. MnDOT officials say there will be lane and ramp closures throughout the construction season, but no roads will be completely closed. In Saint Louis Park, construction on Minnetonka Boulevard between Inglewood Avenue and Highway 100 has started, with the road being completely closed and only accessible to residents and businesses without side street access. Drivers are advised to plan ahead and find alternate routes to avoid delays during these projects.
