A new grain facility on the Wisconsin-Minnesota border is set to provide marketing opportunities for local farmers. The facility in Hager City, Wisconsin, features advanced technology including storage capacity of 3.9 million bushels, rapid grain dryers, and efficient loading capabilities. It is strategically located along the Burlington Northern Santa Fe mainline, providing access to domestic and international markets.
Farmers in the region, such as Brent Wink from Glenwood City, see the new facility as a significant opportunity for increased grain sales, especially during the winter months when river transportation is limited. The facility will utilize Burlington Northern’s dedicated shuttle trains to transport grain to destinations in Texas, Mexico, and the Pacific Northwest with quick turnaround times.
Alcivia Cooperative’s President and CEO, Jim Dell, highlights the benefits of the new facility, citing improved access to markets and economic growth for the community. The facility is expected to handle 20 to 25 million bushels of grain annually, with operations set to begin next month.
