Amy Olson-Cooper, Senior Associate AD at St. Thomas, has had a remarkable journey from being a standout multi-sport athlete to becoming a trailblazer in athletic administration. After overcoming physical challenges due to health issues, she transitioned from playing semi-pro soccer to coaching and eventually found success in athletic administration at various universities. Olson-Cooper is a champion of diversity and inclusion in sports, particularly for Black and other student-athletes of color.
Currently, she is the only Black female in senior athletic administration at St. Thomas, overseeing gender equity, finance, administration, and compliance. Olson-Cooper also advises the university’s Black Student Athlete group and provides support to underrepresented athletes. She is excited to be part of the historic move to Division I at St. Thomas and to contribute to the progress of women’s sports in Minnesota.
Olson-Cooper’s career has been marked by being a trailblazer and making history, and she continues to be passionate about utilizing her business degree and love for sports to support student-athletes and promote equal opportunities in athletics. Her journey serves as an inspiration to aspiring athletes and administrators, showcasing the importance of perseverance and dedication in the world of sports.
