A 17-year-old high school student from Waukesha, Wisconsin was arrested in Iowa after being stopped for running a stop sign. Authorities discovered that he was a person of interest in the double homicide of his mother and stepfather, who were found shot at their home in Waukesha. The teenager has been charged with stealing his stepfather’s Volkswagen Atlas and a firearm. The victims were identified as Donald Mayer and Tatiana Casap, the teen’s stepfather and mother respectively.
Cell phone records showed that the teenager left Waukesha and traveled through multiple states before being arrested in Iowa. Surveillance cameras captured him driving the stolen car with the family’s dog. Evidence found in the stolen vehicle, including a gun and spent shell casings, linked the teenager to the crime. It was reported that the teenager visited The World’s Largest Truckstop in Iowa during his journey.
The young suspect’s mother was found with dried blood on the floor around her, while his stepfather had a head wound. Although a Smith & Wesson gun belonging to the stepfather was missing from the crime scene, it was later found in the stolen vehicle along with the victims’ driver’s licenses. The investigation into the double homicide is ongoing, and the teenager is currently being held as a suspect in the case.
