Amount of Snowfall in Minnesota during March 4-5 Storm

A spring snowstorm has hit the Twin Cities metro area, bringing several inches of snow and causing difficult travel conditions. As of 2 a.m. on Wednesday, some areas have received significant snowfall, with Apple Valley recording 7 inches, Lakeville with 6.5 inches, and Faribault with 6 inches. The snow is expected to continue falling through the morning commute, with wind gusts of up to 40 mph in the Twin Cities adding to the challenges.

Residents are urged to report their snow totals to FOX 9, but to measure the average in their yard or deck rather than drifting snow. The heavy, wet snow is expected to taper off to lighter snow and flurries throughout the morning. A winter storm warning is in effect for the Twin Cities and western Wisconsin, while southern Minnesota is under a blizzard warning until Wednesday afternoon. The cleanup process is expected to be slow and difficult as the snow continues to fall.
