Nebraska resident and travel writer Seth Varner has been making his way through southwest Minnesota to document every one of Minnesota’s 856 incorporated communities. His recent visit to Marshall included stops at local landmarks such as the Lyon County courthouse and Southwest Minnesota State University, as well as dining at the Brau Brothers brewery. Varner’s project, Wandermore, began during the COVID-19 pandemic when he decided to visit every town in his home state of Nebraska. He has since expanded the project to cover multiple states and plans to publish travel books for each one. Varner’s travels are funded through donations, with donors’ names appearing in the upcoming Minnesota book. He aims to finish the Minnesota book this year. Varner’s project has connected him with many people and their stories, as well as helping him appreciate and promote small-town tourism. Interested individuals can sign up for notifications about the book’s publication on Varner’s website.
