However, the cafe, along with many Black businesses in the Rondo neighborhood, was demolished to make way for the Interstate 94 freeway in the late 1950s. Despite these challenges, Jones remained steadfast in his faith and believes he has been blessed throughout his life. Turning 96 in September, Jones plans to wait until he turns 100 for a big birthday celebration. His story is a testament to resilience, faith, and the power of choice in shaping one’s life.
