Minneapolis man confesses to involvement in Feeding Our Future fraud scheme

Abdikadir Ainashe Mohamud, a 33-year-old man from Minneapolis, pleaded guilty to wire fraud in connection with the $250 million Feeding Our Future fraud scheme. He claimed to be operating a child nutrition site in Willmar, Minnesota under the sponsorship of Feeding Our Future, serving 3,000 meals daily and allegedly submitting fake meal counts and invoices. Mohamud transferred over $2.5 million in federal funding to himself and others through a shell company and also purchased a property using the money. He paid bribes to a Feeding Our Future employee and made contributions to a GoFundMe account related to the scheme. Stigma-Free Willmar received over $5.3 million in payments based on fraudulent claims. Mohamud’s sentencing will include forfeiture of the purchased property and seized funds. This case is part of what is considered the “largest pandemic fraud in the United States,” with Feeding Our Future receiving nearly $500,000 in administrative fees for sponsoring the fraudulent program.
