Rudy Giuliani settles defamation case brought by former Georgia election workers

Rudy Giuliani has satisfied a judgment against him after defaming two former Georgia election workers following the 2020 presidential election. A jury initially awarded the workers $148 million in damages, which was later reduced to $146 million by a judge, with additional interest and attorney fees. Giuliani reached a settlement with the workers in January, after being found in contempt of court for failing to comply with orders related to the judgment. He falsely accused the women of election fraud, resulting in death threats and harassment from Trump supporters. The women testified that they felt unsafe and were reluctant to leave their homes due to the lies spread by Giuliani. The settlement agreement brought an end to what they described as a “living nightmare” over the past four years, allowing them to clear their names and restore their reputations. Giuliani has not responded to requests for comment on the matter.
