Three Worthington High School soccer players, Carlos Castillo, Alex Galvez, and Maqui Sandoval, have signed their letters of intent to play soccer at Minnesota West Community and Technical College next fall. The trio will be joining a relatively new Bluejay program that has quickly risen through the ranks. Despite a challenging season last year, these talented players are expected to make a significant impact and help the team succeed.
Minnesota West head soccer coach, Jordan Balster, expressed excitement about the trio joining the team and highlighted their hard work ethic and leadership skills. Galvez and Sandoval were defenders for the Trojans, while Castillo was an attacker and one of their leading scorers. The Bluejays have some key positions to fill, and Balster believes that these players will fit in nicely and contribute to the team’s success.
Throughout their time at WHS, Castillo, Galvez, and Sandoval played major roles in maintaining the Trojans’ excellence in boys soccer. They have a combined record of 64-11-3 and have made three consecutive Class AA state tournaments. Last season, Castillo was named to the all-Big South Conference team, with Galvez and Sandoval receiving honorable mentions.
These players continue a tradition of Worthington natives staying home and continuing their soccer careers at Minnesota West. With their experience and winning mentality, Castillo, Galvez, and Sandoval are poised to lead the Bluejays to further success next season. Balster praised their work ethic and determination, emphasizing their ability to work hard and lead the team on and off the field.
