A 37-year-old woman and her 2-year-old daughter died two days after a car intentionally plowed into a crowd in Munich. At least 37 people were injured in the attack, which took place the day before a major security conference. Authorities believe the attack was motivated by Islamic extremism. The suspect, a 24-year-old Afghan national, admitted to intentionally driving into the crowd for religious reasons during a police interview. He was charged with 36 counts of attempted murder, as well as grievous bodily harm and reckless driving. The names of the victims have not been released. The suspect’s actions have led authorities to assume the attack was an Islamic extremist act, although they are not jumping to conclusions. The suspect prayed after his arrest, further supporting the belief that the attack was religiously motivated.
