The University of Minnesota and Essentia Health have announced their commitment to a shared vision for a new integrated “all-Minnesota” health model that focuses on research, education, rural healthcare, and increasing access to essential services across the state. This vision aligns with findings from the Governor’s Task Force and input from stakeholders. The goal is to create a non-profit integrated healthcare entity that prioritizes patients and aims to simplify healthcare delivery by reducing logistical hurdles and increasing access and innovation. The new entity will operate as a single system with a patient-first focus, allocate resources efficiently, and focus on evidence-based medicine and research. It will also play a role in value-based care models to enhance health and control costs for future generations. The new framework will help Minnesotans receive comprehensive care closer to home, especially in rural and Tribal communities. The focus remains on transformational change to create a seamless system of care that serves all of Minnesota.
