Minnesota United FC has made a significant acquisition by signing South Korean midfielder Hoyeon Jung from K League 1 team Gwangju FC. The 24-year-old has penned a three-year contract with the option for an additional year, with a transfer fee of nearly $1 million. Jung, who won the K League Young Player of the Year in 2023 and helped South Korea’s U-23 team win the 2023 Asian Games, is seen as a versatile and dynamic addition to Minnesota’s midfield.
This marks Minnesota’s second international signing of the 2025 offseason and adds to their South Korean contingent, joining forward Jeong Sang-Bin. Jung expressed excitement for the new challenge and vowed to showcase his best performance for the club. With the MLS season set to kick off on Feb. 22, Minnesota fans can look forward to seeing Jung’s impact on the team under head coach Eric Ramsay. Jung’s addition has been welcomed by the club’s chief soccer officer and the player himself is eager to repay the trust shown in him by the club.
