The Winona State University women’s basketball team secured a hard-fought victory against the University of Minnesota Duluth with a final score of 57-53. Olivia Gamoke led the Warriors in scoring with 15 points, while Vivica Bretton also had a strong performance contributing 14 points, six rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
The game saw a back-and-forth battle with multiple lead changes and ties, but Winona State managed to pull ahead in the fourth quarter, thanks to key plays from Gamoke, Sadie Jarmolowicz, Vivica Bretton, and Mattie Schimenz. The Warriors capitalized on free throws to secure the win.
Winona State outrebounded UMD 43-36 and forced 17 turnovers compared to UMD’s ten. Despite shooting at a lower percentage than UMD, the Warriors managed to score more points in the paint and from beyond the arc.
