Two more individuals plead guilty in Feeding Our Future fraud scheme, including former aide to Minneapolis mayor.

Two individuals, Abdulkadir Nur Salah and Abdi Nur Salah, have pleaded guilty in connection with the Feeding Our Future COVID relief fraud scheme in Minnesota. Both individuals participated in defrauding a federal child nutrition program designed to provide free meals to children in need. Abdulkadir co-owned a restaurant that received over $16 million in fraudulent funds, while Abdi registered a nonprofit used to perpetrate the fraud scheme and was also a senior policy aide to the mayor of Minneapolis.

The Feeding Our Future scandal began in 2017 with the mission of feeding hungry children in the Twin Cities and received millions in federal funds, but by 2021, the amount increased significantly to nearly $200 million. When the nonprofit dissolved in 2022, it was revealed that the money was used for personal gains such as buying homes, luxury vehicles, and jewelry. A Minnesota man pleaded guilty to bribery in connection with the case after a juror was offered a substantial amount of cash during the trial of seven defendants, leading to the dismissal of the juror and guilty verdicts for five defendants.四 others have been charged in the bribery case.
