A man in New Mexico was awarded over $412 million in a medical malpractice case against NuMale Medical Center, a men’s health clinic operating in several states. The man’s attorneys claimed the clinic engaged in a scheme that involved fraud and dangerous penile injections. The jury’s decision marks the largest amount ever awarded in a medical malpractice case in the U.S.
The lawsuit alleges that the man, seeking treatment for fatigue and weight loss at age 66, was misdiagnosed and given unnecessary and harmful erectile dysfunction injections that caused irreversible damage. The plaintiff’s legal team accused the clinic of running a fraudulent scheme that targeted elderly men for profit.
NuMale Medical Center’s President, Brad Palubicki, stated that the company remains focused on providing responsible patient care while upholding safety and compliance standards at all their facilities. He refrained from commenting on specific details of the case due to ongoing legal proceedings.
The jury found the defendants guilty of fraudulent and negligent conduct that resulted in damages to the plaintiff. They also found that the defendants violated the Unfair Practices Act through their unconscionable behavior. The case highlights the importance of holding healthcare professionals accountable for breaches of trust and unethical practices that harm patients.
