Guide to Watching: Time, Channel, Performers, and More

The 98th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will take place on November 28 and will feature 22 big balloons, 34 floats, 7 “balloonicles,” and more. The parade will be hosted by the stars of NBC’s “TODAY” show, Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb, and Al Roker. The parade will begin at West 77th Street & Central Park West and end at Macy’s Herald Square on 34th Street. There are designated public viewing areas along the 2.5-mile route, with the best spots recommended to be snagged as early as 6:00 a.m.

Viewers can also watch the parade from home on NBC or Peacock, with performances from stars like Jennifer Hudson, Lea Salonga, T-Pain, and more. There will be new balloons, floats, and “Balloonicles” introduced this year, such as an all-new Spider-Man balloon and floats celebrating wildlife and Netflix show characters. Spectators can also see behind-the-scenes balloon preparation on the Upper West Side on the day before the parade.

In addition to the entertainment, the New York Liberty WNBA champions and Broadway actors will also make appearances. Santa Claus will conclude the parade on his famous sleigh. Overall, 28 entertainers, 11 bands, 28 clown crews, and 11 performance groups will be featured at the almost four-hour event. Attendees are advised to bring ponchos as rain is forecasted for Thanksgiving Day in New York City.
