Press Release: St. Paul Authorities Investigate Fatal Shooting; No Arrests Made
ST. PAUL, Minn. — A man was shot and killed Friday afternoon in St. Paul, prompting an investigation by local police. Officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 600 block of Aurora Avenue around 1:30 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered a man suffering from gunshot wounds inside a parked vehicle.
Tragically, the man was accompanied by an infant and a toddler at the time of the shooting. According to Sgt. Mike Ernster of the St. Paul Police Department, the shots were fired from a passing vehicle. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the child passengers; however, authorities noted that two bullet holes were found in the car seat occupied by the infant.
This incident marks the 29th homicide in St. Paul for the year 2024. Earlier this month, another shooting occurred near the Minnesota State Capitol, resulting in a fatality as well, although no suspects have yet been apprehended in that case either. The investigation into both shootings continues, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
