Congressional Republicans subpoena Walz administration regarding Feeding Our Future scandal • Minnesota Reformer

Congressional Republicans have issued a subpoena to Minnesota Governor Tim Walz for information regarding the $250 million Feeding Our Future scandal, the largest pandemic relief fraud in the country. The subpoena also targets Minnesota Department of Education Commissioner Willie Jett, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and its Office of Inspector General. The scandal revolves around the mismanagement of funds intended to feed hungry children during the pandemic.

In a statement, Walz’s spokesperson acknowledged the fraud and praised the FBI for arresting and charging those involved. A recent audit found that the MDE failed to properly oversee the federal funds administered to nonprofits, creating opportunities for fraud. Walz admitted that the audit was a fair critique.

The subpoena from House Education and Workforce Committee Chair Virginia Foxx accuses Walz of involvement or knowledge of the massive fraud, prompting a reminder of the bare-knuckle tactics of Beltway Republicans. This comes after another Republican, U.S. Rep. James Comer, initiated an investigation into Walz’s ties with China, given his history of teaching there and criticizing the regime.

The Feeding Our Future scandal has resulted in 23 convictions and ongoing investigations into dozens more defendants. The investigation has been centered around a Minnesota nonprofit.

As Walz faces scrutiny and pressure from Congressional Republicans, the focus remains on accountability and transparency regarding the mishandling of funds during a critical time. The governor’s response and actions moving forward will be closely watched as he navigates these challenges.
