Former Disney employee Michael Scheuer is facing federal criminal charges for allegedly hacking into the company’s menu-creating software after being fired from his position as a menu production manager. The complaint accuses Scheuer of making changes to menu prices and adding profanity, as well as falsely indicating that certain food items did not contain peanuts, which could be dangerous to individuals with allergies. Scheuer denies any wrongdoing and claims Disney is trying to frame him. He admits to using his personal Google Chrome profile to conduct work while employed but is unsure if he accessed Disney’s systems after being terminated. Disney has not yet commented on the situation. Scheuer’s attorney states that no one was harmed by his client’s actions and that Scheuer has a disability that may have impacted his termination. Scheuer filed an EEOC complaint against Disney after being fired. The criminal complaint alleges that Scheuer’s actions threatened public health and safety, as well as caused damage to Disney’s computer systems. Federal agents have searched Scheuer’s home and seized four personal computers as part of the investigation. The case is ongoing, with Scheuer’s attorney preparing to present his client’s side of the story in court.
