No. 1 seed Wayzata dominated their Class 3A high school girls soccer state semifinal match against No. 4 seed Eagan, winning 5-0 at U.S. Bank Stadium. The Trojans scored two early goals and continued to push forward, with sophomore midfielder Alex Villueux scoring a hat trick and assisting on another goal. The team will now advance to the state championship game on Friday to face either East Ridge or Edina, with hopes of avenging last year’s loss to Edina in the final. Gophers commit and Wayzata forward Tenley Senden opened the scoring in the second minute, with Villueux adding two more goals before halftime. Sophomore Lauren Craig also contributed with an assist on Villueux’s header. Senior forward Sophie Hawkinson sealed the win with a goal in the second half. Wayzata’s impressive performance mirrored last year’s semifinal victory, where they scored three goals in the first 15 minutes. With a strong offense led by Villueux and Senden, the Trojans are primed for a competitive state championship match as they look to secure the title this year.
