Rachel Scott, a Jamaican designer based in New York, was honored with the American Womenswear Designer of the Year award at the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Awards. Overwhelmed with emotion, Scott thanked her mother and the women in Jamaica who crochet her designs. As the head and creative director of the Diotima label, Scott expressed gratitude for the recognition, having spent most of her career on design teams.

Renowned for her knitted designs, Scott previously received the Emerging Designer of the Year Award in 2023. The CFDA Awards ceremony, held at the American Museum of Natural History in Manhattan, attracted celebrities like Katie Holmes and Kylie Jenner, along with industry leaders, to celebrate excellence in fashion design.

Erykah Badu, another prominent figure in the fashion industry, was honored with the Fashion Icon Award by the CFDA. Badu appeared at the ceremony wearing a headdress of jewels and a Thom Browne jacket, humorously sharing that it was an honor she had been hoping for her entire life.

The CFDA Awards proved to be a night of celebration and recognition for talented individuals in the fashion world. Scott’s emotional acceptance of the award highlighted the dedication and creativity that go into her designs, making her a deserving recipient of this prestigious accolade.
