Za’Nari Collins, a 6-year-old girl from Minneapolis, had her dream of becoming a superhero come true thanks to Make-A-Wish. Diagnosed with leukemia at the age of three, Za’Nari teamed up with Bloomington police at the Mall of America to solve a mystery and “Save the day at MOA.” Her mother, Cece Collins, expressed how heartwarming it was to see her daughter’s smile after everything she had been through. Za’Nari’s bravery and optimism in the face of her illness inspired her mother and others around her.
The event was part of Make-A-Wish Minnesota’s mission to grant wishes for children with critical illnesses. Mall of America has been partnering with Make-A-Wish Foundation for over 30 years and has helped grant more than 6,000 wishes since the chapter was founded in 1982. Za’Nari’s special day at the Mall of America was a testament to the power of hope and the importance of brightening a child’s life during challenging times.
Jonah Kaplan, WCCO and CBS News Minnesota’s investigative reporter, covered the heartwarming event and highlighted Za’Nari’s bravery and resilience in the face of adversity. The story of Za’Nari Collins serves as a reminder of the impact that organizations like Make-A-Wish have on the lives of children facing serious illnesses and how communities can come together to support those in need.
