Jerrie Marble Cowan, a beloved Tehachapi resident, recently passed away at 85. Born and raised in Tehachapi, Jerrie was a devoted daughter, wife, and mother of three sons. She was known for her significant contributions to the community, including founding the Tehachapi Heritage League and serving as a museum director. Jerrie was also a dedicated volunteer at Tomo Kahni State Historic Park, advocating for the protection of Nuwä culture. She worked on preserving the Tehachapi Pioneer Cemetery and was a role model for many.
She and her husband, Harry Cowan, were married for 65 years, and she supported him in all his endeavors. Jerrie was a capable and determined woman who learned new skills, such as scuba diving, to assist her husband. She was involved in various organizations, including the Eastern Star and local synchronized swim program. Jerrie was a den mother for a Cub Scout pack, teaching children to swim and creating fun activities.
Known for her love of animals and Dachshund dogs, Jerrie was also a wonderful grandmother who cherished spending time with her grandchildren. She had a strong female energy and was respected by all who knew her. Jerrie will be remembered for her tireless dedication to her community and her loving nature. Her legacy of service and selflessness will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched.
