A judge granted a protective order to political writer Olivia Nuzzi, who was put on leave for her ties to fringe presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., after she accused her ex-fiancé, Ryan Lizza, of harassment and blackmail. Nuzzi claimed Lizza threatened to destroy her reputation and life, allegedly hacking her devices for surveillance. She also accused him of making threats of physical violence over a joint book deal with a publisher. Lizza denied the allegations, stating that Nuzzi was diverting attention from her own failures. The two journalists were once engaged. Nuzzi’s relationship with Kennedy was never physical, but she admitted to a personal connection that should have been disclosed. Kennedy dropped out of the presidential race last year and endorsed Donald Trump. Nuzzi’s filing for the protective order did not mention Kennedy by name but suggested a link to Lizza’s actions. Kennedy is known for his anti-vaccine advocacy and conspiracy theories. Both Lizza and Nuzzi have not commented on the situation. The protective order grants Nuzzi protection from Lizza until an Oct. 15 hearing.
