A man was arrested in connection with an apparent attempted assassination of former president Donald Trump in Florida. The footage released by the Martin County Sheriff’s Office showed the man following law enforcement directions and being taken into custody without incident. Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.
The confrontation occurred near Trump’s golf course, where he was playing at the time. Law enforcement agents instructed Routh to move and he complied with his hands up. He was apprehended while driving on Interstate 95, thanks to a witness who took a photo of him and his car. The Martin County Sheriff expressed concern about how an armed man could have come close to a former president and whether Routh was acting alone or as part of a conspiracy.
The FBI and Secret Service are investigating further to determine Routh’s motives and possible connections to any larger plot. President Trump’s safety is a top priority in light of this incident. The situation is ongoing, and updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
