New pictures of unidentified ‘Asian Doe’ possibly linked to Gilgo Beach murder case revealed

New York officials released forensic sketches and informational flyers in hopes of identifying a possible new victim in the Gilgo Beach serial killings case, referred to as “Asian Doe.” The victim, a biological male of Asian descent, was found near Long Island in 2011 wearing women’s clothes. Authorities released new facial reconstructions depicting the victim as both male and female to encourage new leads. Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney believes Asian Doe may have been a sex worker, similar to other identified victims. The victim was of Southern Chinese descent, between 17 and 23 years old, and suffered a violent death by blunt force trauma at least five years before being discovered.

No one has been charged in connection with Asian Doe’s homicide. Long Island architect Rex Heuermann was arrested last year in connection with the Gilgo Beach serial killings, but it is unclear if there is a connection to Asian Doe. Authorities are offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the victim’s identification. The images and flyers will be shared online and in multiple languages, including Mandarin, Cantonese, Thai, and Indonesian.

The victims were discovered during a search for Shannan Gilbert, a sex worker who died in 2010, but her death was deemed unrelated to the homicide victims. Authorities hope that by sharing this information, they can bring justice to the victims and their families.
