Pop superstar Taylor Swift is not the only celebrity with ties to Rhode Island. Newport is home to the likes of “Judge Judy” Scheindlin and Jay Leno, while other famous names like Christopher Walken and James Woods have properties in Block Island and Exeter, respectively. Comedian Matt Rife also recently discussed his Rhode Island purchase in a podcast. Swift famously purchased her Watch Hill mansion in 2013, sparking much attention in the Ocean State whenever she hosts her celebrity friends there.
Her Westerly mansion, known as Holiday House, has a rich history that inspired a song on her “Folklore” album. Swift’s famous neighbors in Westerly include Conan O’Brien and Colin Cowherd. Locals have reported sightings of Swift walking on the beach and dining out in the area. However, there have been some controversies involving her security staff keeping beachgoers away from the seawall, which is a public right of way.
Over the years, Swift has hosted Fourth of July parties at her home, welcoming friends like Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Uzo Aduba, Karlie Kloss, Gigi Hadid, and Selena Gomez. Her property features 700 feet of beach frontage and stunning views of the Rhode Island and Long Island sounds. Watch Hill, where her mansion is located, is known for its small shops, eateries, and attractions like the Flying Horses Carousel. It has a rich history of drawing famous visitors since the late 19th and early 20th centuries, including Billy Joel, Regis Philbin, Oprah Winfrey, and Drew Barrymore.
