The popular food series “Taste Buds with Stephanie” is back for its second season, and this time Stephanie Hansen is kicking things off at the Minnesota State Fair. Join Stephanie as she explores the delicious offerings at the fair, including the Quesabirria Taquitos and Esquites at El Burrito Mercado, a family-owned restaurant that has finally secured a spot as a State Fair food vendor after more than 10 years of trying.
In this episode, Stephanie is joined by special guest Nur-D, a beloved Twin Cities Hip Hop artist, as they sample a variety of unique State Fair foods, such as the Wrangler Waffle Burger at Nordic Waffles and Deep-Fried Ranch Dressing at Lulu’s Public House. They also try PB Bacon Cakes and a secret menu item at The Blue Barn.
Back at home, Stephanie shares two simple recipes inspired by the State Fair. One recipe is Stephanie’s Homage to the Minnesota State Fair Gizmo, a classic sandwich that has been served at the Iowa and Minnesota State Fairs for over 50 years. The other recipe is Stephanie’s State Fair Elote Corn on the Cob, inspired by the Roasted Corn and Esquites “corn in a cup” at El Burrito Mercado’s food booth.
