The Minnesota Vikings have announced that they have signed 17 players to their practice squad. This increase from the usual 16 players is due to tight end Sammis Reyes being in the International Player Pathway program. All 17 players have been with the team during training camp. This announcement comes after the NFL required all teams to reduce their rosters to 53 players on Tuesday.
Among the players signed to Minnesota’s practice squad are running backs DeWayne McBride and Myles Gaskin, cornerbacks Jaylin Williams and Nahshon Wright, defensive back Bobby McCain, outside linebacker Andre Carter II, offensive lineman Henry Byrd, defensive lineman Jonah Williams, and outside linebacker Bo Richter. Reyes, the tight end in the International Player Pathway program, rounds out the list.
These players will have the opportunity to continue to practice and develop with the team while not taking up spots on the active roster. Practice squad players are often called up to the active roster in case of injuries or other roster changes during the season. The Vikings are looking to build depth and strength with these signings to be prepared for the challenges of the upcoming NFL season.
