Naresh Bhatt has been arrested on suspicion of concealing a dead body four weeks after his wife, Mamta Kafle Bhatt, went missing in Virginia, where she was last seen working as a pediatric nurse on July 27. Their infant daughter has been taken into the care of the Department of Social Services. Authorities have not confirmed finding a body, but believe Naresh Bhatt may have hidden one in relation to his wife’s disappearance. The Manassas Park Police Department is actively investigating the case, with additional leads being pursued that could lead to more charges. Naresh Bhatt is being held without bond and is scheduled to appear in court. Mamta Kafle Bhatt’s co-workers raised the alarm when she failed to show up for work on August 2, but she was not reported missing until August 8. Her credit cards and phone have shown no activity since her disappearance. Friends and family from her native Nepal and the local community have organized searches and held a vigil. A GoFundMe account has been set up to support the search efforts, raising almost $14,000.
