A lawsuit and technological issues during a state commission meeting on Tuesday have resulted in a delay in the sale of a Heber Springs dispensary. The owners of Enlightened Cannabis for People of Heber Springs had requested approval to sell the business to Danny Brown of BOLD Team cultivation. The owners of the dispensary had previously filed a lawsuit against Nate Steel and Alex Gray of Good Day Farm Arkansas, alleging they recruited figurehead owners for out-of-state operators and left them with tax liabilities without income.
During the commission meeting, there were debates and discussions among lawyers representing all parties involved in the sale and lawsuits. Despite initial approval from some commissioners, technical issues with the remote participant led to the vote on the sale being nullified and the matter being tabled to the next month’s meeting.
While the state Alcoholic Beverage Control division had no objections to the ownership change at the Heber Springs dispensary, concerns were raised regarding the commission’s potential involvement in the ongoing lawsuit. The commission ultimately decided to delay the sale in order to address these issues at a later date.
The commission also approved a request by Greenlight of Helena-West-Helena to move to Brinkley, with support from the mayor and city. The decision came after attempts by Greenlight to move to Stuttgart last year were met with community opposition. The next commission meeting is scheduled for September 5th at 3:30 p.m.
