Former US President Barack Obama has given his full support to Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in their bid to become the next President and Vice President of the United States. Speaking at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Obama praised Joe Biden as a friend and urged Americans to fight for a country they can believe in.
Obama highlighted the importance of the upcoming election, warning that America cannot afford four more years of “bluster, bumbling, and chaos” under Donald Trump. He emphasized the need for a new chapter in American history, declaring that the country is ready for a President like Kamala Harris.
Michelle Obama also spoke at the convention, endorsing Harris and Walz and calling for a return to hope and unity in the country. She criticized Trump for his divisiveness and attempts to spread fear, especially towards successful Black individuals like Harris and her husband.
The Obamas’ speeches were met with enthusiastic applause from the audience, which included former Republicans who have turned to the Democratic party in opposition to Trump’s administration. The current President and his running mate, JD Vance, are touring battleground states to counter the Democratic convention’s impact.
With only 11 weeks until the election, the race for the White House is heating up, and both parties are rallying their supporters. Obama’s support for Harris and Walz adds a significant boost to their campaign as they strive to make history in November.
