Two teenagers, Robert Barceleau and Sergio Estrada, have been charged with murder in the slaying of Johnny Wactor, an actor on “General Hospital” who was killed in May during a catalytic converter theft in Los Angeles. Barceleau is facing special circumstance charges for killing during an attempted robbery, while Estrada is charged with attempted robbery and grand theft. Two other suspects, Leonel Gutierrez and Frank Olano, were also arrested in connection with the crime. Gutierrez faces attempted robbery and grand theft charges, while Olano is charged with accessory after the fact to murder.
The district attorney’s office stated that if convicted, Barceleau could face life in prison without parole, while Estrada could face a maximum of life in prison. The suspects are scheduled to be arraigned, and each of them has different bail amounts set. Wactor, 37, was shot and killed after confronting three men who were stealing his car’s catalytic converter in downtown Los Angeles. A friend and co-worker of Wactor mentioned that he remained calm during the encounter and simply asked the thieves to leave before he was shot.
Wactor, who played Brando Corbin on “General Hospital,” was described as a talented young actor with much to offer the world. The district attorney expressed a commitment to seeking justice for Wactor and holding the responsible parties accountable for their actions.
