Seven individuals reported missing following a sailboat overturning off the coast of Sicily in Italy | Maritime Updates

A boat carrying 22 passengers, including foreign tourists, sank off the Sicilian coast, leaving seven people missing. The incident occurred early in the morning due to rough weather conditions. Italian authorities, including the coastguard and firefighters, were able to rescue 15 individuals, including a child, who are now in stable condition. The boat was carrying a mix of Anglo-French, Irish, New Zealander, and Sri Lankan nationals, with the majority being British. The British-flagged boat, named “Bajesian”, had departed from the port at Porticello on Sunday evening. The search for the missing individuals is ongoing, with fire department divers and helicopters assisting in the rescue efforts.
