A luxury superyacht sank near Palermo, Sicily during a violent storm, resulting in at least one death and six missing individuals. The sailboat sank suddenly due to extreme weather conditions, with a strong storm and tornado hitting the area prior to the incident. A baby was being treated at a children’s hospital, while seven adults were taken to the emergency room but were not in serious condition. Seven other individuals were located at a nearby Port Authority. Search and rescue efforts involved divers, a motorboat, and a helicopter, with the wreck being at a depth of 165 feet. The yacht, named the Bayesian and built in 2008, can carry up to 12 guests and a crew of 10, and is listed for charter at a high price. The boat left Milazzo on August 14 and was last tracked near Palermo on Sunday evening. Fabio La Bianca, who witnessed the yacht before the incident, expressed shock and disbelief at the tragic event. Rescue teams were being mobilized to search inside the sunken vessel for the missing individuals.
