The war between Russia and Ukraine continues to escalate as it enters its 895th day. On Thursday, August 8, 2024, significant developments occurred in both fighting and diplomatic relations between the two countries.
In terms of fighting, Russia declared a state of emergency in its Kursk region and evacuated residents after Ukrainian soldiers crossed the border near Sudzha. Civilians were injured, and casualties were reported on both sides. Russian shelling in Donetsk resulted in four deaths, while overnight attacks in Kyiv damaged homes.
