Australia’s Keegan Palmer defended his Olympic title in men’s park skateboarding, securing a gold medal at the central Paris event. The 21-year-old overcame knee injuries and fierce competition from American Tom Schaar to take the top spot on the podium. This victory marks Australia’s second gold in the skateboarding events at the Games.
In a nail-biting final, Palmer set the early benchmark with a winning run that no one could surpass. Despite close competition from other skaters, including Schaar who finished with silver, Palmer’s score of 93.11 sealed the deal.
The final started slowly with six skaters falling on their first run, leaving only Schaar and Palmer to complete their attempts. Schaar posted a score of 90.11, but Palmer managed to outperform him, securing the gold medal with a score of 93.11.
Overall, the top five skaters all scored above 91 points, showcasing the high level of competition in the event. Palmer celebrated his victory with hugs and high fives from his fellow competitors, cementing his status as a dominant force in men’s park skateboarding.
With this victory, Australia continues to demonstrate its strength in the skateboarding events at the Olympics, adding another gold to their tally. Palmer’s impressive performance and ability to defend his title under pressure solidify his legacy in the sport.
