Disney is increasing the prices on its streaming platforms, including Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+. Starting in mid-October, most plans will see an increase of $1 to $2 per month, with the most expensive plans for Hulu, including live TV, going up by $6 per month. Disney+ basic and premium plans will be priced at $9.99 and $15.99, respectively.
The price hikes come as Disney pushes customers towards bundles to offer more value for their money. The existing bundle of Disney+ and Hulu, with ads, will increase by $1 to $10.99 per month, while the bundle without ads will remain at $19.99 per month. Disney has also partnered with Warner Bros. Discovery to offer a bundle including Disney+, Hulu, and Max for $16.99 with ads and $29.99 commercial-free, offering a 38% savings compared to purchasing the services separately.
To entice subscribers, Disney will be adding ABC News Live and a preschool content playlist for all subscribers starting September 4th. They also plan to introduce four more curated playlists for premium subscribers. The company is focused on providing the best value and experience for its subscribers with these new offerings and price increases. Disney will report its fiscal third-quarter earnings before the bell on Wednesday.
