Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman and three of his players spoke at SEC Media Days in Dallas, discussing the connection between Arkansas and Texas. All three players Pittman brought with him played their high school careers in Texas, with one of them having a brother who is a 4-star recruit for the Longhorns. There was also talk about the Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian’s comment about the Arkansas fans hating Texas more than they like themselves, which Pittman responded to by saying the fan base was excited for the matchup. Arkansas has won four of six matches against Texas since the turn of the century, and the all-time series record still favors the Longhorns. There were discussions about the impact of Texas and Oklahoma joining the SEC on recruiting and scheduling. The Razorbacks are looking forward to their upcoming matchup against Texas to be held in Fayetteville. The team also discussed the end of their neutral-site series against Texas A&M, stating that they would prefer to play future games at their own stadium. Pittman expressed optimism about Texas and Oklahoma joining the SEC, believing it will improve the conference and provide a better rotation of opponents for Arkansas to face.
