Gopher Athletics had a successful week with several notable accomplishments across various sports. The department celebrated 12 Academic All-Americans, including athletes from Men’s Hockey and Wrestling. Coach Fleck is set to represent Minnesota at the Big Ten Football Media Days in Indianapolis. Additionally, Lydia Grote and Mckenna Wucherer will attend the Big Ten Volleyball Media Day in Chicago.
Diver Sarah Bacon and golfer Erik van Rooyen made headlines ahead of the Paris Olympics, while football alum Mark Dusbabek appeared on WCCO’s The Huddle. Cross Country unveiled its 2024 schedule, and Women’s Hockey announced a matchup with Bemidji State in the 2025 U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Museum Women’s Face-Off Classic.
In other news, football player Crawford was nominated for the AFCA Good Works Team, and thirteen Gophers received Shrine Bowl 1000 honors. Tennis players also received ITA Academic Distinctions. Men’s Basketball continued its “Get to Know” series, and rookie Cam Christie impressed in the NBA summer league.
On the digital front, Gopher Digital released a countdown of the top plays from the Coach Fleck era and the 2024 Gopher Football media guide. Fans can also watch Minnesota’s team entrance in the new EA Sports College Football 25.
