District leaders in Little Rock are working on providing support to three tiers of schools based on grade levels and student achievement. The school district has categorized its campuses into three different tiers, with Western Hills Elementary School being placed in network 3, which receives the most district support.
One initiative that has been implemented at Western Hills Elementary is the Ignite! Reading program, which focuses on literacy tutoring during daily instruction time. The school has completed its third semester of the program and has seen positive results so far.
While the sorting of schools into tiers is a promising step, district leaders acknowledge that there is still work to be done. They are actively working on providing support and resources to schools in need, in order to improve student achievement across the district.
The Little Rock School District is committed to ensuring that all students receive a quality education, regardless of the tier their school falls into. By providing targeted support and programs like Ignite! Reading, they aim to help students succeed academically and reach their full potential.
As the district continues to work on supporting schools in all three tiers, they remain focused on improving student outcomes and creating a positive learning environment for all students.
