Trump makes a comeback in Minnesota alongside Midwesterner Vance in an attempt to sway the predominantly Democratic state

Former President Donald Trump is returning to Minnesota as part of his campaign efforts, hoping to secure the traditionally Democratic state in the upcoming election. Trump, along with his running mate JD Vance, will be holding a rally in St. Cloud, Minnesota, with the expectation of facing Vice President Kamala Harris in November. The campaign is targeting blue-collar and union workers in the iron mining range of northeast Minnesota in hopes of gaining support from a group that has historically voted Democratic.

Trump’s political director has labeled Minnesota as a battleground state where Trump compares favorably to his opponent, Biden. The campaign has been hiring staff and opening offices in the state. Republican congressional candidate Tayler Rahm has also joined Trump’s campaign as a senior adviser.

On the other side, the Harris campaign’s communications director in Minnesota, Lexi Byler, stated that Trump and Vance are “wildly out of step with Minnesotans’ values” and that the state is not likely to be won by a Republican presidential candidate this year. Byler emphasized the Democratic campaign’s organization and volunteer efforts to support Harris.

With both campaigns vying for Minnesota’s support, the state seems to be a focal point in the upcoming election. Trump’s confidence in his chances in Minnesota reflects his broader strategy to expand his reach in traditionally blue states.
