Former President Donald Trump criticized Vice President Kamala Harris on immigration and criminal justice during a speech at Turning Point Action’s Believers Summit in West Palm Beach, Florida. Trump called Harris a “bum” and a “failed vice president,” accusing her of mishandling the southern border, not liking Jewish people, and planning to appoint “Marxists” to the Supreme Court. These attacks are in line with Republicans’ claims that Democrats will impose socialist policies if elected.
Trump also urged religious voters to turn out in higher numbers, telling them they have power and should use it to vote in the upcoming election. He referred to them as “my beautiful Christians” and asked them to vote this time, promising that everything will be fixed in four more years.
In response to Trump’s speech, a spokesperson for the Harris campaign criticized his language and demeanor, saying he couldn’t pronounce words and insulted the faith of Jewish and Catholic Americans. The spokesperson added that Trump sounded like someone you wouldn’t want to sit near at a restaurant, let alone be President of the United States.
During his speech, Trump also mentioned his recent recovery from an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania, proudly showing the crowd his fully removed ear bandage and stating that he “took a bullet for democracy.” This was Trump’s second speech since President Joe Biden dropped out of the race.
